MYOFASCIAL STRETCHES & ELDOA

Based on work by renowned doctor, osteopath and physiotherapist Dr Guy Voyer, Myo-fascial Stretching is the precise stretching of a muscle within its fascial chain. The technique respects the physiology of the myofascial complex and takes into consideration its intrinsic anatomy and effects on joint mechanics. ELDOA stands for longitudinal osteo-articular decoaptation or decompression - in short, a precise and targeted opening of a specific joint by using myofascial tension to fixate the lower segment while the one above is mobilised.

This video goes through a myofascial stretch of the Biceps Femoris, one of the the three hamstring muscles.

Myofascial stretch of the iliopsoas, better known as the hip flexors.

Myofascial stretch of the external oblique, one of the most superficial of our abdominal muscles.

Myofascial stretch of the rectus femoris, also known as our quadriceps muscles or 'quads'.

Myofascial stretch of the obturator internus, which is one of our deep hip rotator muscles. It is also intimately involved in pelvic floor function.

Myofascial stretch of the piriformis, one of our deep hip rotator muscles. It is commonly implicated in sciatic pain.

Myofascial stretch of the internal oblique, one of our abdominal muscles.

ELDOA technique for L5-S1.

Myofascial stretch of the gastrocmenius (plural: gastrocnemii) better known as our calf muscle(s).

This video goes through the C4-5 ELDOA and is also the general ELDOA for the cervical spine.
