Golden Mylk - Healing Turmeric Latte

Golden Mylk - another (absolutely beautiful) name for a tumeric latte - is filled to the brim with comforting, healing goodness that can help with a range of acute and chronic physical conditions as well as hugging your soul from the inside out. The 'mylk' indicates it is dairy free and with the exception of a good quality natural sweetener such as honey or maple syrup, also refined sugar free. Perfect during those cooler winter months!

Ingredients:

  • 250ml coconut milk

  • 1-2 tsp ground turmeric

  • Pinch black pepper & cinnamon

  • Honey or pure maple syrup to taste

Method:

Heat milk in a pan until a simmering low boil (bubbles forming on the edges but not yet rising up and overflowing. Take off the heat and pour into a mug. Stir in spices and honey to taste. Serve with extra sweetener or cinnamon.

Enjoy 2-3 times a day

Note: Start with 1 teaspoon turmeric until you get used to the taste. Work up to 2 teaspoons as able.

Nourishing Notes:

  • Turmeric contains Curcumin which is a well-researched and proven natural anti-inflammatory that helps to reduce arthritis, joint and post-surgical pain and swelling, as well as aiding in blood glucose regulation in type 2 diabetes mellitus, reducing gastrointestinal symptoms in Crohn’s disease and IBS and having positive effects in patients with cancer.

  • The amount of Curcumin that is absorbed by your body is increased significantly by the addition of piperine or black pepper, and taking it with a fat (the coconut milk) helps it get to your gut more effectively so it can be best absorbed and utilised by your cells.

  • Your body recognizes nutrients, vitamins and minerals better when they are taken in their most natural form ie. as food, making this one of the most comforting and nutritious ‘medicines’ you can take.
